Private Lessons and Custom Courses

Northwest Natura events are community-oriented, place-based, and attuned to the individuals present.

My programs offer fun, outdoor and indoor experiences centered around Pacific Northwest plants, fungi and outdoor skills that are accessible to all.

Choose Your Adventure.

You pick the topic and I’ll start designing the course! You can suggest a specific location for your outing or leave it to me to decide.

All events take place in public areas like parks, forests, and venues. You may also request an event to take place on your property.

Make it Private or Public.

Private lessons provide a unique opportunity to learn alongside family, coworkers, and friends.

Public event suggestions are just like my regular field trips, but the topic (and date) is chosen by you.

Your course will be based on both yours and my availability. I offer short lessons, half-days, full-days, overnighters, and seasonal immersion programs

Northwest Natura is based in Whatcom County, WA and I can travel to areas within the Salish Sea Bioregion and beyond.

Choose Your Own Adventure Info, Tuition and Refund Policy

The refund policy for Public Outings can be found at the bottom of our Events Page.

For Private Courses:

  • Pricing may vary. Prices listed on our website are baseline costs. Listings do not assume travel costs to areas outside of Whatcom County. Custom courses taking place outside of Whatcom County are subject to an additional fee based on mileage and commute. Prices increase at a baseline of 30/hr when you add time to a set length. Prices increase at a baseline of 40/topic when you add topics to a short course or half day course. A complete outline defining all costs for the purpose of transparency is available by request. Any additional costs and price variation will be discussed with you before you commit to your purchase.

  • Non-refundable deposit: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required for all private lessons. Your course will only be scheduled when the deposit is made. The deposit is due when Northwest Natura provides a payment link to you. You may pay the entire tuition all at once with the link provided if you wish.

  • Rescheduling: Rescheduling your private event without additional fees is allowed up to 8 days prior to the event. Requesting to reschedule your private event with less than 8 days’ notice is subject to a 20% rescheduling fee.

  • Cancellations: Refunds for 50% of tuition will be rewarded if at least 10 days’ notice of cancellations is given. Cancelling your event in less than 10 days of your event will not include a refund.
