Edible & Medicinal Plants

  • Identifying medicinal and edible plants

  • Learn traditional and modern uses of plants we find

  • Taste-testing wild greens.

    Botany

  • Crash course in botanical vocabulary

  • Taxonomical connections of various plant species

  • Discourse on phenology and evolution of traits

    Fungi Ecology

  • Plant-Fungi symbiosis (orchids!)

  • Mushroom ID at any opportunity

    And also

  • Q&A at your leisure

  • Beautiful scenery

What to Bring:

  • Dress for the weather

  • Snacks, lunch, and water

  • Good walking shoes (hiking boots not necessary; the trail is well maintained)

You may also want to bring:

  • A notebook and pen

  • DSLR camera

  • Your favorite field guide (plants, lichens, ferns, moss, wildlife)
